” The Black Art of Wheelbuilding”
A talk and demonstration by Roger Dunster. Roger worked as a mechanic in the motorcycle trade all of his working life, on all sorts of machines from hum drum to exotic, at Commerfords in the early days, Pride and Clarkes, Tippets and Velocette specialist, Geoff Dodkin.
Discover the meaning of ‘off-set’, discover why manufacturers used different spoke patterns and different sized wheels and whether stainless steel rims are any better than chromed rims. Can a slight buckle in the rim be remedied by spokes alone or is the rim a write off?, do wheel builders use high tech equipment and tools? All will be revealed!
