Norton at Brooklands 2014

The branch will be holding their 6^th Annual ‘Norton  at Brooklands’ event at the old Brooklands Circuit near Weybridge in Surrey on Sunday June 8th 2014.

The world’s first purpose-built motor racing circuit, constructed at Weybridge, Surrey in 1907 – was more than a great sporting arena. Brooklands was the birthplace of British motorsport and aviation, home of Concorde and the site of many engineering and technological achievements throughout eight decades of the 20th century.
Experience the atmosphere that reveals the secrets of Brooklands – the place where the great British adventure in speed and altitude all began. The Museum displays a wide range of Brooklands-related motoring and aviation exhibits ranging from giant racing cars, motorcycles and bicycles to an unparalleled collection of Hawker and Vickers/ BAC-built aircraft, including the Second World War Wellington Bomber, Viking, Varsity, Viscount, Vanguard, VC10, BAC One-Eleven and the only Concorde with public access in South East England.

Visitors can look forward to the special “Spirit of Brooklands” atmosphere with the wonderful museum backdrop and see hundreds of rare Nortons all drawn up in front of the original Brooklands Club House for South of England’s best concours competition – All accompanied with the fabulous music of a great Trad Jazz Band – “Acoustic Jass“!

There’s loads to see with a fantastic collection of old racing bikes, Racing cars and classic Aircraft laid out throughout the Brooklands track.

For the more sporting inclined, there’s a chance to ride your pride and joy up the fabled ‘Test Hill’ in the afternoon. This popular event  allows you to test your bike’s acceleration up the 1 in 8 changing to 1 in 4 gradient before a short ride on the original Brooklands Banked track.

Entrance to Brooklands is still only £11.00 and the Branch has it’s new Marquee in a prominent position to take your test hill bookings and offer chat and advice.
